Fight for Same Sex Marriage Free Online Research Papers Same gender marriage is a very new law that people have been trying to legalize all around. Tom me I strongly am against the whole same gender marriage. I dont mind the same sex being together I do have a lot of homosexuals as friends and I never did anything bad about their likes of the same gender relationship. But Marriage is way too far for my blood. The fight for same gender marriage has been going on for a while till the point our president George W. Bush supports it. I have looked on the web to find some good information of the same gender marriage and for the women side of the same gender marriage, I have found the National Organization for Women, which have been around since 1966, and I found an article by Amanda Cherin and communication Intern. The article explains in 2003 that the United States Supreme Court allowed the gays and lesbians to be together but yet they are not able to get married in any state in the United States. There are is about 594,391 same gender couples that are living together in the United States and yet they dont have the right to be legally married. I believe in the sanctity of marriage. I believe a marriage between a man and a woman and I think we ought to codify that one way or the other. (President George W. Bush). Based on religion marriage is always between a man and a woman. Marriage itself I think has changed as years and years go by. That if you think about it, same sex marriage is not such a big change at all. I looked through out the history of marriage and there are so many changes like polygamous marriage was accepted in many periods of history and still going on in some parts of the world. In the mediaeval time in Europe marriage was not based on sexual love. Marriage is now gender neutral, wives and children are not the property of the husband. It is also racially neutral, letting people marry outside their race. And also marriage doesnââ¬â¢t have to be forever because divorce is easier. So I think marriage is already out of control why not same sex marriage? Mainly some religion goes against the same sex marriage based on what they believe, they believe that having the same sex marriage will put away all meaning of a marriage and also damage tradional family unions and lead to increase more homosexual couples. Christmas say that homosexuality goes against the Bible. For example a verse in the Bible, And they called unto lot, and said unto him where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them. (Genesis 19:5) or thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. (Leviticus 18:22). Also the other verse I have seen on the Bible which is intense to me is If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death: their blood will be on their own heads. (Leviticus 20:13) So if yourself is in a same sex marriage and has a religion like this you should know you will be in trouble with God himself. What is marriage? Recently, people argue with respect to the definition of marriage. What happened to marriage? To get married is a very important event for almost everyone. Especially for women, marriage and giving a birth could be the two biggest events of their lives. Many people believe that getting married to the one whom he or she loves is natural. However, what do you think if you cannot get married to him or her because it is socially unacceptable? Andrew Sullivan and William Bennett are authors who are arguing about the homosexual marriage. Sullivan agrees with the same-sex marriage because everyone has a right to marry. On the other hand, Bennett contradicts Sullivanââ¬â¢s opinion. Bennett makes an assertion that marriage is between a man and a woman building up their entire life together. Both authorsââ¬â¢ opinions are totally different. Nevertheless, their ideas are well established. In Sullivanââ¬â¢s essay, he talks about accepting same-sex marriage. If the judge accepted homosexuals as citizens in the Supreme Court, homosexual people would feel free. They do not have to hide and tell a lie anymore. Most people wonder why they desire to get married. The reason is the same as anyone who wants to get married to the one whom he or she loves. It is normal thought. It seems easy to accept these opinions. However, it is very difficult because marriage is between a man and a woman, and this has been a general thought for a long time. Therefore, some religions refuse homosexuality, but it is not a problem any more because of the separation of the church and the state. Homosexuals just want a social right to get married. Some people still argue the definition of marriage. It has been change by homosexuality because human values are equal anyone in the world. Everyone has the same rights. Is marriage to bring up children? No, there are many married couples who do not h ave children. This is no difference between homosexual marriage and other marriage styles. Nevertheless, if there are people who disagree with the same-sex marriage, they inhibit homosexual people from staying their country (Sullivan 26). In Bennettââ¬â¢s essay, he writes two points which divide opinions about homosexual marriage. One is whether homosexual marriage strengthens or weakens the institution. The other is what the marriage is. If the definition of marriage were extended too much to include homosexual union, the tradition of marriage would be changed. Bennett asks how we can consider these people. It is difficult to say what the moral is. Marriage also means to decide your best partner. Everyone desires a beautiful life with a partner, but most marriage is not as the ideal as we think. He mentions that many supporters of homosexual couple do not share this ideal (Bennett p.30). Another different opinion from proponents to opponents of same-sex marriage is ââ¬Å"the very heart of marriage itselfâ⬠(Bennett p.30). Marriage is that a man and a woman love, respect, and help each other. That is what people learn in this society. The definition cannot be changed easily by anyone. In addition, this though t has been taught for a long time in American history. Therefore, we should respect and keep this thought. I do not think there is a common ground. Of course, both authors talk about the same-sex marriage. Besides, Sullivan agrees with this, and Bennett is the opponent. However, what Sullivan really wants to say is the right of human being. Everyone has the same right, and there is no difference between men and women and black and white. As he says, this is why homosexuality should have the same right as other people have. Right to marry is just one of the whole problems for homosexuality. In contrast, Bennett focuses on marriage. He talks about what the marriage is, and what the marriage should be. In addition to this, he mentions other types of marriages like polygamy and family marriage. If there were these styles of marriages as a culture in the US, he would accept them. He says we should not change this culture because our ancestors made this. There are many different types of love such as loving family, friendships, to love your pets, to love the one who you should not, your boyfriend or girlfriend and so on. Nobody will predict to love someone because love comes by chance. Did you change your mind to read this essay? Or do you still have your own opinion? I think both ideas those two authors gave us are correct. Only love can solve everything. The Concept of Human Relation Skills - Essay Example The school's management mentioned in the case studies were keen enough to ensure that the supervisors assigned to each school were able to illustrate effective human relation skills aspects (Wiles & Bondi, 2004). Concerning the case studies within our textbook, supervisors play an important role in the organization. This is because they are responsible for making sure that the duties, which are assigned to them by the higher-level managers, are carried out effectively with no delay. The responsibilities of the supervisors include giving the managers accurate and timely information that is required for planning as well as informing them of the performance of each department. The role of the supervisors is also to act as a form of bridge for passing information between the management and the employees (Wiles & Bondi, 2004). Therefore, the responsibilities of a supervisor in an organization need to be emphasized for better operational results. Being a supervisor is not an easy task because of the changes that are incorporated into the role. Based on the case studies, a supervisor is meant to carry out responsibilities that ensure the operations that are conducted in the organization are in line with the organizational goals. New supervisors are expected to apply more human relations as well as conceptual skills. They are also expected to look at the activities within the departments and devote a significant amount of time in planning. Another change that is quite evident is that once an individual becomes a supervisor the relationship that existed with the other employeesââ¬â¢ changes based on the fact that he/she will be addressed as a member of the management.Ã

Organizational Influences on Ethics - Essay Example The most outstanding and palpable form of counterculture (as a form of subculture) that I encountered is dressing. The subculture that was most difficult to deal with was collective ambivalence towards organizational mode and policies of operation. This is because, this form of leading subculture is mostly exhibited within the organizationââ¬â¢s high echelons (managerial positions), yet these positions are to enjoy the value of self-management and independence. Because of this relative extension of the value of self-management and independence to organizational executives, it becomes impossible to forge a definitive and defined approach to decision making and organizational approaches. As a matter of fact, a resolute attempt to draw out a clear, monolithic and definitive organizational policy may set precedence to organizational dictatorship. Just as Owen (1990) posits, it is obvious that when dealing with these three groups or subcultures, leadership styles will inevitably vary. When dealing with the executive rank of the organization to eradicate collective ambivalence, democratic leadership style will greatly helps, since dialogue will be paramount. Likewise, to deal with the issue of inappropriate relaxative by the junior management, prescriptive and delegative type of leadership became needful. As for the problem of dressing among the junior-most staff, prescriptive type of leadership became useful, since, it is important that every organization chooses its dressing code and that these rules are adhered to. One of the examples of managerial malpractice is negligent supervision. Taking the nursing or healthcare providing institution, negligent supervision may occur when the manager or an officer in the management personnel fails in supervising the activities of both independent contractors and employees at the institution, and thereby causing the medical institution, a department or its facilities to fail in its objectives (Morrison,

Collagen supplements Essay As a personââ¬â¢s age advances, the skin loses natural cells that promote elasticity and help maintain youthful look. Collagen, known to be a form of protein that holds and tightens the skin underneath, slowly decreases with age. Hence when you reach the age of forty, you notice that your skin starts to sag and form wrinkles. Even the hair and nails suffer from this gradual loss of collagen. The lips, most especially, also become less plump and the usual pout in most women is gone when they reach fifty. And yet there are many ways to compensate for the loss of youth. With the modern woman, the cost of looking young is no cause for concern for as long as the results are delivered. Taking collagen supplements for more youthful look has gained popularity among American women as well as with other women all over the world. To know how to choose a collagen supplement, read these tips. â⬠¢ Know that collagen supplements come as oral medication and skin applications (cream, gel, moisturizers, injections, and etc.). Decide which of the two options you want to use. â⬠¢ Consult your doctor before taking oral collagen supplements. As with taking any oral supplements, you need to ask the advice of your doctor to make sure the supplements do not cause adverse reactions with other medications you might be taking. With the skin applications and injections, make sure you have no allergies whatsoever that may result to unfavorable outcome. For topical applications, a collagen supplement must be able to replace the lost natural moisture of your skin. The reason why aging skin gets wrinkled is because the skin has become dry due to decrease of natural collagen supply. Collagen supplements in the form of external applications work best with women or even men who are in their 20s and 30s. At this stage, oral collagen supplements may not be necessary yet. â⬠¢ Make sure to use collagen injections that come from natural sources. Some collagen substances recommended for injections are from fats of animals such as pigs. â⬠¢ Pick an oral supplement that is fortified with multi vitamins particularly Vitamin C and E. Since you are taking the collagen supplements orally anyway ââ¬â make it a point that they contain nutrients as well. Vitamin E is also considered a youth pill, hence aside from the benefits you get from the collagen itself, your youth is even enhanced with the Vitamin E component. â⬠¢ Decide on a supplement that has other health benefits. Many collagen supplements have antioxidants such as grape seed oil which is a very potent substance in restoring lost mass of body tissues. â⬠¢ Buy supplements that have levels of elastin and collagen, the amounts of which are appropriate to your age. The rule here is: the younger you are, the lower the level of collagen is required, and the older you get, the higher level is needed. â⬠¢ Find out if the supplement has ingredients such as nano-Lipobelle H EQ10, Cynergy TK or COQ10 and multivitamins. â⬠¢ Ask friends who have tried using collagen supplements about how effective these substances are. If you see any improvement on them, then you might as well try their product. Although collagen injections give instant results of a youthful look, they do not last long. Hence oral collagen supplements are still preferred because they get into the body system permanently, thus promoting better and more long lasting effect.

Seasonal Affective Disorder à à à à à Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, is a common problem of people living in northern United States. People who are affected by this disorder commonly suffer from depression, lethargy, inability to concentrate, overeating and weight gain. People from the north tend to suffer more from this disorder because of the shortened days. It appears, that due to the deficiency of sunlight some people suffer from these symptoms. The shortened days have a hormonal effect on the body that causes these symptoms, and the use of artificial sunlight is the best way to relieve the disorder. à à à à à It was not until recently that SAD was discovered. It was discovered by Peter Mueller, who was reviewing a case of a 29-year-old woman. He had noticed a pattern, the womanââ¬â¢s depression came in the winters and left in the spring. Over the course of years the woman moved from city to city. Mueller noticed, that the farther north she moved the early the depression. Mueller had begun to speculate that the lack of sunlight had contributed to the womenââ¬â¢s depression. In order to confirm this he exposed the patient to artificial sunlight. He found that over a period of time the patient had recovered from the depression. Today light therapy is the most commonly used method in treating SAD. The two hormones that are affected by the sunlight, and are thought to be the cause of SAD, are melatonin and serotonin. Both of these chemicals ââ¬Å"are influenced by photoperiodism, the earthââ¬â¢s daily dark-light cycleâ⬠(Wurtman 1989). Melatonin is the chemical that effects mood and energy levels. In the human body melatonin is at its highest at night and is lowest in the day. There has been a study done to see if sunlight has a direct effect on suppressing melatonin. It is known that melatonin levels in urine are five times higher at night than they are in the day. It was not until a 1980 study that it was known that melatonin levels could be directly suppressed with light. In an experiment, subjects were woken up at two in the morning and exposed to a half an hour of artificial sunlight. The findings were that melatonin levels were greatly decreased. The decline in melatonin usually happens in the early morning, but in a SAD patient this does not occur until about two hours later. In order to suppress the levels the patient needs to be exposed to sunlight. It is found, that when the patient is exposed to the light there is a significant decrease in depression and the craving for carbohydrates.

Thomas Jefferson: A Man of Two Faces THESIS: Thomas Jefferson was a wealthy plantation owner and politician that would speak out about slavery on a regular basis but would still employ slaves for his own use. We are told by his biographers, and apologists, that he hated slavery with a passion. But since he participated fully in the plantation slavery system, buying and selling slaves on occasion, and because he could not bring himself to free his own slaves, who often numbered upward of 200-250 on his plantations, one has to either question the verity of this passion or speculate that it was merely the abstract idea of slavery that he hated. (Smedley 189) Thomas Jefferson was always aware of the fact that slavery would soon oneâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Many people believed saw slaves as just property even though they talk, walk, breathe, and carry out all other essential human functions. Slaves are no different than Thomas Jefferson and the other plantation owners, their skin may be an altered color than theirs, but that does not allow a person to be treated in the matter slaves were. Jefferson owned 15,000 acres of prosperous plantations and hundreds of slaves to work his land every single day and night. Like all plantation workers Jefferson, housed both white and black workers. He seemed to have more exclusive relations with the slaves that tended to his personal needs such as those who cooked, waited on tables, washed, wove the cloth, and made the clothing for the house. Including these slaves was a young woman who shared the same bed as Jefferson, known as Dusky Sally who some believe was pregnant with his baby. Jeffersons legal grandson, Thomas Jefferson Randolph, many years later admitted in an interview that either Madison or Eston, a slave resembled Jefferson that at certain times it was difficult to determine if that was Jefferson or not. Even though Jefferson thought that slaves were not equal he seemed to have relations over a period of years with Sally Hemmings, a slave at his plantation.
